My Media Summer Work
1. Listening to an album all the way through:
2. Cook a meal for somebody:
Over the summer I cooked and prepared a meal for my family which was Fennel and pea risotto with pan fried mackerel.
I gathered the ingredients and started to make the risotto first because it would take the longest to cook and the fish would be ready practically instantly. We started by cooking the fennel in some oil to soften the fennel to make it blend in with the risotto. Then we added a large amount of risotto rice to the pan and two table spoons of creme fresh and proceeded to cook for an hour or so whilst adding a bit vegetable stock every 5 mins. Then after an hour you add a small bowl of peas and stir for 5-10 mins until the peas have soften up, and then the risotto is finished. Then we started the process of cooking the fish which will only take about 10 mins by using a hot pan and some olive oil with a sprinkle of salt N pepper and lemon juice . Then serve on a plate with two spoonfuls of risotto and a ball of baby leaves and lambs lettuce.
3. Listen to a podcast:
The podcast I did was one that I found on youtube which is a podcast were Ricky Gervais, Steve merchant and Karl Pilkington and the podcast summed up is where Ricky Gervais and Steve Merchant mock and take the mick out of Karl for his weird and stupid thoughts that Karl has, most of which comes out of his diary that Karl keeps and writes his daily occurrences and theories, for Ricky and Steve to mock.
The podcast was funny for the commentary that Ricky and Steve made whilst Karl read his diary apart from that the rest of the podcast does have its funny moments but its mostly Ricky who makes it comedic. Overall I would recommend this series of podcasts to anyone who enjoys comedy and who Is a fan of Ricky Gervais.
4. Watch an online tutorial:
The tutorial I watched was one based around iMovie for 2018 and the video was great and taught me a great deal about the certain effects and where to find them. He also explained how to alter the audio frequencies and the effects you could add.
The video was 17 minutes long and I watched it twice, the first time I watched the video throughout its entirety then the second time I went through it and explained in a document what he was doing and how he was doing it. Through out the second watching I surprisingly learnt more due to me stopping and making notes about it.
Overall the video was a good beginners guide for anyone who is interested in the editing side of media or someone who needs an update on the program.
5. Watch or participate in a sport:
At the beginning of the summer I recently joined a rowing club in Cambridge called Champs (Champions of the Thames) which I do on a Monday and a Friday every week. On the first session I started in something called a 'tub' which is the most stable and widest boat that you can get. They use this boat for the rookies who are new to rowing or for people who have done it before. I had 4 sessions on the 'tub' util I moved the the 8 where I have now had 5 sessions (8 being a long boat of 8 men and 1 cox who is the steerer and the commander f the boat). I also watched a sport when we went on holiday in Croatia. We saw Hajduk split which was a local football team near where we were staying, and FCSB a Romanian team who were playing away to Hajduk split. The final score was 0-0 after 94 minutes.

The album that I listened to was IV by Led Zeppelin
The album overall was better then expected because I started to listen to the album because it was one the more famous albums that they had made, including songs like 'Black dog' and there most famous song 'Stairway to heaven'. I would recommend the album to anyone who hasn't listened to it because although it has long songs it is still a great piece of music and i would listen again.
As I listened to the album I made notes about the songs explaining wether it was a major or minor key and possible interesting different beats or use of instruments. I also did research about the location of the album photo and found out that it was taken near Salisbury tower.
